You have heard the stories before, the ones about journalists and reporters losing their jobs for reporting the truth and perhaps later they receive some sort of honor for doing what they should have done. With that in mind let us consider movies and TV shows. It seems that media censorship is everywhere. What can be done about it...if you are like me you want the real news, not some half-baked story that was created to drive the ratings for the news network. For me satellite TV on my computer has solved this dilemma. But before I go into that that solution I want to discuss a little more about what I perceive as a problem. Is it just me or does the media really control what we think in some ways...let me explain. Movie after movie has been created that depicts Italians associated with the Mafia. There have even been hit series with that theme. This stereotyping makes one believe that it is true that all Italians are associated with the Mafia. We see so many murders on TV. The show can make the murder seem justified...what does that do to our minds in the long run. In many movies CEOs of ... [more..]

In 2007 the endless news buzz surrounding Paris Hilton seemed well......endless. How refreshing it is to have not heard anything about her in recent weeks? No police reports, no mug shots, and no drunken antics.Of course I say that but I do not devour People magazine or watch E like I should. On the television news I tend to watch though she has been absent.I am starting to think that at least one young celebrity is taking the high road. Although upon doing my research I have seen that there are almost daily photo's of her being published online with her out in public her appearances have not been the stuff that sells magazines.I would personally like to say thatta girl Paris. Way to go. Keep it up please. Life does go on even if you are not part of a scandal. What could it be that makes Paris Hilton able to learn from her mistakes? Could it be that she is intelligent? I would think that is a definite possibility. Appearing dumb certainly made her money but being blonde is not a sure-fire indicator of a lack of intelligence.Perhaps it is breeding. She certainly comes from a fine American family. ... [more..]

Many reality themed TV shows are uploaded in domains that claim to be the largest site for all the information database regarding the provision of online reality TV and reality TV news online. However, there are only a very limited few that may satisfy the reality TV enthusiasts because some sites have disorganized media content and bear a troublesome user interface. On the other hand, some reality TV sites showcase hundreds of independently operated reality television shows on the web. These online TV programs give them the edge in providing the most number of news telecasts and the most comprehensive updates on almost all of your favorite reality series that ever hit the TV and PC screens. There are nearly 300 known reality themed TV programs that are being tackled in one single area on the internet. These areas, popularly known as sites or domains, are those with hard-earned credibility and are now making partnerships with numerous print, electronic and online media. Some of the most notable media firms backing up these authentic sites are the CBS News, ESPN, MTV, MSNBC, USA Today, Entertainment Weekly, The Associated Press and even the New York Times. With all of these organizations aiding reality TV ... [more..]

Think you are getting the true election results when you watch the evening news? Think again. You probably already know that the networks report their "projections" long before the votes are counted, and sometimes before the polls are even closed. But what you may not know is that they don't report the true results of elections, even after all the votes are counted.More on that in a moment, but first I have to tell you about a phone call I recently received. It was a computer program calling me, trying to record my responses to a political survey on many public issues. Never mind what the rest of the questions were: the first one points immediately to the real problem here. It was, "Do you consider yourself a Republican or Democrat?"What rigged question! I don't consider myself to be either, so I have to lie or be excluded from the survey. This was a general public opinion poll, not one meant for use solely by the organizers of republicans or democrats. You can bet that they reported those results on the evening news or in newspapers, as representative of the general opinions of the public - not just those who ... [more..]

Once in awhile marketers think of really marketing ideas that stand out. Ways of advertising that really interest the targeted audience and grab one's attention. Tourism Queensland in Australia has created a truly unique, imaginative and inexpensive way to market the Islands of the Great Barrier Reef and Australia. They have managed to use free off-line media and marketing sources to drive people to their website. It's really a brilliant and clever marketing approach. You probably know about it by now. I'm talking about their dream job offer of living above the Great Barrier Reef.Tourism Queensland is seeking applicants for their 6 month caretaker job on Hamilton Island. The successful applicant will be paid $150,000 (Australian dollars) including free accommodation plus the chance to share your once-in-a-lifetime experience with friends or family. All this person has to do is live on the island, tour the various Great Barrier Reef Islands and write about their experiences via a blog. Basically, this person would be promoting Australia as a tourist destination via various forms of media.I think that this is a brilliant marketing idea because it will spread Tourism Queensland's message about visiting the Great Barrier Reef and Australia to an incredibly ... [more..]
