Woman On The Verge is a pretty hefty episode, and the music choices are as varied as the emotions and roles that each character takes on. The sounds of jazz and soothing melodies paired with touching lyrics fill the silence. As a bonus, GG band, Lincoln Hawk plays a cover of Pieces of Me by Song and Wagner. The band is playing the song at the very end of the episode, when Georgina has left the concert with Dan and the rest of the gang arrives at the concert to confront her. There are more songs paired to Georgina scenes in this episode than any other. At the very beginning of the episode there is a montage of Georgina trying to repeatedly get a hold of Serena and phoning her non stop. During the montage Cities In Dust by Junkie XL featuring Lauren Rocket plays and leads into the scene where Lily begins to search Serena's room. When Georgina lies to Dan in order to get him to leave with her and dispel any rumors, Stay by Lisa Loeb plays in the background.Strong music follows Serena as she goes through her revelation of and then deals with the secret she has ... [more..]

Episode 13 is called "A Thin Line Between Chuck and Nate"-- a thin blue line, that is... like the kind you hope not to see on a teenage pregnancy test. And this particular pregnancy test causes scandal after scandal.First it's Serena, caught buying the test and reported by none other than Gossip Girl herself. Dan finds out in about two milliseconds and promises to do the right thing. I knew he was a sweetie pie. He's a keeper, Serena. But Serena bought the test is for Blair, who, being the spoiled princess she is, refuses to take it. Because if Miss Princess doesn't want to be pregnant, then she's not pregnant. Serena, well-intentioned as she is, can't seem to mind her own business in the episode; she goes to Chuck to talk about Blair's potential pregnancy. Chuck says it's not his.And Blair eventually gives in and takes the test. Crying, happy, she calls Serena to tell her that the test came out negative. She thinks that's the end of it, but those of us who have been watching Gossip Girl TV know that it's not. This kind of gossip doesn't just die in the rich kid set.Sure enough, Blair has to ... [more..]

Gossip Girls first episode of the season was filled with denial, lies and then a whole lot of coming clean-- and so was the music. True to the shows musical past, the first episode of the second season, Summer, Kind of Wonderful, was an eclectic mix of indie and pop tracks beginning with Reverse of Shade by The Windupdeads.Reverse of Shade runs through the recap of last year and plays into scenes of summer with several of the main characters. Just as the new scenes of summer begin with Nate and his new best friend locked together at the jaw, the track Buzzin from Shwayze belts on in the background. The lyrics fit the mood perfectly even as Serena passes Chuck on the beach with a set of topless beach bunnies.Another catch all song in the show was Fell in Love Without You by Motion City Soundtrack, which does a good job of capturing the strife, heartache and denial that most of the characters are so obviously feeling over each other. The song plays through two of Chuck scenes, including his trip to the airport to welcome Blair home only to see her with another man. The show ends with ... [more..]

The vast amount of magazines detailing the lives and loves of stars and celebrities shows that many of us love gossip. We love to hear and read about other people, especially if it involves an actor or actress' body size or love affair. And this hunger for gossip seems to be increasing. But very few of us stop to think about the negative effects of gossip. When it concerns celebrities, it is often viewed as entertainment, simply a part of show business that is accessible to everyone, but how would you feel if YOU were the subject of gossip. You probably have been gossiped about in the past by people who know you and it is likely you have gossiped too. Gossip seems to be a pass time that appeals to most people - it can be a way of bonding with others, allying and forming friendships, gaining attention and amusing ourselves at another's expense. Many will argue that everyone gossips and that gossip is harmless. But the latter is far from true.Gossip is often a sure fire way to damage a relationship. When you talk about someone behind their back relaying bad news or criticisms to someone else, you are ... [more..]

Are we really busy bodies? Do we purposely look for gossip so we can talk about it with our friends? The truth is celebrity gossip is quite interesting. There are many people who look down on people who are interested in it but the truth is they are also interested they just do not show it or they give off this "I do not care" attitude.Actually celebrity gossip is a really great icebreaker especially during parties. You can talk about it even with people whom you do not know. I bet at the end of the party it would seem that you have developed a special bond with some of the guests because of the similarity in opinion. People do not get tired of talking about it. Men are not an exception. They even gossip about it more than women in some instances. But one thing we should not do when it comes to celebrity gossip is to become obsessed with it. Sure we can keep our interest in them but not to the point that we no longer deal with our lives or if we can no longer go on with our lives. Remember that gossip is still gossip. It ... [more..]
