The press often talks a lot about older celebrity moms, you know, those who have their babies past the age of 35. But, what about the younger moms? There are more celebrity moms under the age of 25 than you might imagine.
Take a look at these ten celebrities who became a mom before they were 25.
- Jamie Lynn Spears – Britney’s younger sister was not quite 17 when she became a mom. Today, her daughter is two and mom is just 19. Spears starred in Nickelodeon’s Zoey 101. She departed the show when she became pregnant.
- Reese Witherspoon – Today, she’s 34, but Reese had her first child at the tender age of 23. Her daughter, Ava, with ex-husband Ryan Philippe is now 11, and her son Deacon is 7l.
- Kate Hudson –Hudson was 24 when she gave birth to her son Ryder, with her now ex husband Chris Robinson.
- Kate Winslet – Winslet had daughter Mia at age 23.
- Victoria Beckham – Beckham’s first child Brooklyn, with husband David, was born when Posh was just 24.
- Britney Spears – Britney had son Sean Preston Federline when she was 24. Just a few days before Sean turned 1, son Jaden was born.
- Charlotte Church – Charlotte’s daughter Ruby was born when her mom was just 21.
- Ashlee Simpson – Simpson gave birth to son Bronx with rocker husband Pete Wentz when she was 24.
- Solange Knowles – Beyonce’s younger sister had son Daniel when she was just 23.
- Marie Osmond – Osmond is mom to a total of eight children. Her first, Stephen was born when she was just 24. Of her eight children, Stephen is one of only three who are biological. She has adopted five children over the years. Marie’s son Michael committed suicide in February of this year.
Though they may not get as much press as their older counterparts; these women are proof that becoming a mom at a young age doesn’t have to stop you from reaching your other personal and professional goals. After the birth of their at least one of their children:
- Reese Witherspoon won an Oscar for her portrayal of June Carter Cash in “Walk the Line”.
- Marie Osmond became a top doll designer and revitalized her entertainment career by appearing on “Dancing with the Stars”. She also went on to headline a top Vegas show with her brother Donny.
- Kate Winslet won an Oscar for 2008’s “The Reader” and has appeared in numerous films.
- Kate Hudson has made seven more movies. Her movie “You, Me and Dupree” grossed $21 million on its opening weekend alone.
- Victoria Beckham has created her own fashion line and made numerous television appearances, in addition to a reunion tour with The Spice Girls.
- Ashlee Simpson starred in “Chicago” on Broadway and then appeared on a revamped version of the 90s television series “Melrose Place”. She has also been the face of Canadian retailer “Zellers”, promoting their independent clothing line.
Though they’ve had many accomplishments since they became parents, it’s likely all these women would tell you that they are most proud of their role as, simply, Mom.
